1984

Set in a totalitarian society governed by the Party and led by the omnipresent Big Brother, the story follows Winston Smith, a low-ranking Party member who works altering historical records to fit the Party’s propaganda. Disillusioned with the oppressive regime, Winston begins to rebel in small ways, seeking truth and personal freedom. He starts a forbidden love affair and secretly opposes the Party, but is eventually caught by the Thought Police.

The novel explores themes of surveillance, totalitarianism, mind control, and the manipulation of truth, presenting a chilling vision of a future where individuality is crushed by absolute state control.
