The Bandit Queens

A darkly comic novel set in rural India, following the life of Geeta, a woman ostracised by her village after rumours spread that she killed her husband. Though her husband actually disappeared, Geeta uses the fear and respect the rumours generate to her advantage. However, other women in the village soon seek her help to get rid of their own troublesome husbands, leading Geeta into a series of chaotic and unexpected situations.

Through satire and wit, the story sheds light on the harsh realities of life for women in a male-dominated world, exposing the absurdities of societal expectations and the lengths to which women must go to assert their autonomy and reclaim control over their lives.
